Personal Artistic Endeavors
As long as I can remember, I wanted to create. Things that connect me to the natural world, to my ancestors, my extended family, neighbors, and friends-I-don't-yet-know. As a child, I started out painting rocks and driftwood from the shores of the Missouri River, and dreaming of designing signage for a local bait shop. (Hey, I just knew they needed branding. For some reason, they were not persuaded by the sketches of a 10-year-old in a dog-eared spiral notebook.) With the analytical mind of a lawyer and the soul of an artist, I've explored a wide variety of media and techniques.
Drawing and sketching. Acrylics and watercolors. Lettering. Writing. Photography. Sewing and quilting. Graphic design. Pottery and sculpture. Geneaology and cooking. Storytelling. I don't discriminate: whatever medium connects me, grounds me, and energizes me, I embrace. Some more successfully than others. Much of my work has escaped me undocumented. And all of it lives on in the memory of my dreams
